Nestled along the scenic Avinguda de les Tres Cales in L'Ametlla de Mar, Tarragona, Restaurant Calas offers an authentic taste of Spanish coastal cuisine that lingers long after the last bite. This charming eatery balances rustic charm with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal pit stop whether you are exploring the Costa Dorada or seeking a memorable meal away from the usual tourist haunts.
Restaurant Calas prides itself on serving expertly prepared dishes that reflect the rich culinary traditions of the region. The standout highlight for many visitors is undoubtedly the seafood paella, praised for its vibrant medley of the freshest catches of the day, brimming with bold, briny flavors that transport you straight to the shore. The seafood is tender and succulent, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean sea in every bite.
Meat lovers also find themselves well catered to, as evidenced by glowing reviews of the sirloin steaks. Jonathan Withington’s reflection on their "melt in your mouth" quality speaks volumes about the kitchen's precision and attention to quality ingredients. Though one local diner noted a less consistent experience with the ribeye, this candid feedback underscores the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity over mass appeal—a hallmark of truly local dining.
During midday, the restaurant offers a thoughtfully curated menu featuring two choices for both starters and main courses. This menu, priced at €20 per person, balances value with quality and is complemented by a charming outdoor dining space under pine trees, enhanced with subtle background music. The ambiance invites diners to relax and savor their meal in peaceful surroundings, making each visit feel personal and refreshing.
Beyond the food, what truly elevates Restaurant Calas is its warm hospitality and the genuine warmth of the people who run it. Prakash Rangaraju encapsulates the experience perfectly, calling it "a gem" with a "beautiful atmosphere" and "wonderful people," highlighting a connection that goes beyond just a meal. Such authentic encounters, paired with impressive culinary satisfaction, make this restaurant more than just a place to eat; it’s a delightful local discovery that enriches any journey along the Spanish coast.
If you find yourself driving between Barcelona and Valencia, or simply craving an exceptional seafood and steak experience in Tarragona, Restaurant Calas offers a rare blend of charm, flavor, and heartfelt service that gives you a taste of Spain’s culinary soul.

One of the best unexpected experiences while driving from Barcelona to Valencia in the middle of nowhere in Spain. So happy that we bumped in to this place, thanks to Google maps!! The place was a gem. Beautiful atmosphere. Wonderful people. Delicious food. The whole family enjoyed being here and relished the food. The seafood Pallella was awesome with the freshest of sea food. Little saltier than what we usually like, but that didn't stop us at all. Beautiful set up, nice scenary. Lively music, Everything worked.

The beef ribeye was raw and stringy and wasn't able to eat it over priced and under cooked won't be eating there again , we are locals not holiday makers so you'll need people like us during the winter months

Had a great dinner here with friends. And unlike so many other restaurants in the area, it was open on a Thursday night in late April/May. Very pleasantly surprised and impressed.
